At least one third of the European adult population browsed the web in 2005 in search of information on health, according to the European Commission. To try to help them find answers to their health questions more easily, a new portal has just been launched.
?Health-EU? at http://ec.europa.eu/health-eu/index_en.htm aims to offer a wide range of information on health-related issues and activities. Separate sections look at personal health, lifestyle and environmental issues. There are also sections looking at key health problems such as HIV/AIDs, cancer and influenza and others providing statistics and research on health.
The portal is intended for patients, healthcare professionals and scientists alike and is available in all 20 official EU languages. It also gives easy access to the health sections of national government websites and to those of international organisations.
